Ok, so while I am learning more about posts, blogs, social media, and how that all interacts with my site, I will also try to keep it (and some test posts) relevant to what I am doing as an artist otherwise. Recently I found myself thinking about a trip I made to Vancouver, BC. I love Canada, and Vancouver in particular. There are lots of colors in clusters which makes the whole environment easy for me to take in. This painting is an example:
The fun thing I like about color clusters in a natural environment is that when I paint them they can resemble so many other things than what they actually were. In this case, I have not come across anyone who realized I was looking at a boat dock/pier that gave me the colors with a heavily treed park in the background. In the negative space I use, there is relevant context that is removed so that the viewer cannot be certain of exactly what it was that inspired me in the first place….
